Skip main menu

In Cumbria local sites are known as County Wildlife Sites and Regionally Important Geological Sites. The Local Sites Partnership purpose is to encourage improvements in biodiversity and geodiversity conservation through local site’s management. It monitors the condition of local sites to help ensure that they are managed in a way that conserves their ecological or geological interest. Local authorities, national agencies and organisations such as the Cumbria Wildlife Trust and the Cumbria RIGS Group are all members of the partnership.
