Cumbria Industrial History Society  – One day conference to be held at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus Penrith 9.30am to 4.00pm.   Topics include Silver Gill mine, waggonways around Whitehaven, Lord Carlisle’s waggonways and the Ulverstone and Lancaster Railway.

Centre for North West Regional studies and the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society – One day conference, to be held at the University of Cumbria’s Ambleside campus Penrith 10.00am to 4.00pm.   Speakers include John Walton, Angus Winchester and Richard Newman.
