The Jacobite Story - Lunchtime talk at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle. Hordes of blokes in skirts and a ruby-lipped princeling - they got as far as Derby before the English realised there wasn't a match on. Keeper of Social History Edwin Rutherford separates myth from reality. Free admission and no need to book. Event takes place between 1pm and 1.30pm in the Lecture Theatre.

Celebrating Carlisle's Heritage - 30 years of Archaeological Excavation. Day school to discover Carlisle's past and celebrate the great border city's heritage at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle. The day school gives an overview of the discoveries from the pre-Roman landscape to the medieval city and castle. These lectures will place the discoveries made in the last 30 years into their context, as well as a final lecture that offers suggestions about how the future of the remaining archaeology of the city should be managed. Speakers include Tim Padley, John Zant and Professor David Shotter. Event takes place between 9.20am and 4.30pm. Day school cost only is £5.00, day school and lunch costs £11.50. Portable Antiquities Officer Dor Bruns divides her time between Carlisle and Preston, and spends much of it helping the metal-detecting community identify their finds.
