Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF)

The County Council is preparing its Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF) which will set out policies and proposals for minerals and waste management developments over the period to 2020.

The MWDF acts as a folder for four Development Plan Documents that will make up the new plan. These are: Core Strategy; Site Allocations; Generic Development Control Policies; and a Proposals Map.

The timetable for the MWDF is described in the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme which came into effect on 16 November 2007.  The way the County Council is encouraging people to participate in preparing the plan is set out in the Statement of Community Involvement

Consultation on the County Council's final drafts of the Core Strategy and Generic Development Control Policies and their Appendices closed on 30 May 2008.  We have now, (July 2008), submitted a statement about Representations to the Secretary of State.

The public examination of the plan by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State will include a hearing in public which is programmed to take place in November 2008.  The Inspector will prepare a report, which is binding on the County Council.
