Cumbria County Council is continuing efforts to address the issues caused by flooding at the Millom Household Waste Recycling Centre with the objective of returning the facility to ‘normal operations’ at the earliest opportunity.
Drainage surveys have been undertaken and some minor repairs will be undertaken during the coming weeks. In addition, surveys are being undertaken to assess what impact the flooding may have had on the base of the site, and we await the findings of this work. Given both of these pieces of work, we are expecting having a much clearer view as to the status of the site by the end of September.
We would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and support whilst we endeavour to address the challenges at the Millom facility, and will of course keep you updated as the situation progresses.
The temporary arrangements will be available Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday until further notice, at the following times:
- the temporary residual waste facility will be available from 8am – 2pm (or until capacity is filled) accepting any additional residual waste that your house generates – i.e. black bag rubbish
- the temporary recycling facilities will be available from 8am – 4pm accepting plastics, glass bottles and jars, paper and cardboard, textiles, books, mixed wood
Please do not bring the following materials for disposal:
