The formation of a Civil Partnership

Once all the formalities have taken place and the 15-day waiting or 'notice' period has elapsed the registration of the partnership can take place. It must take place between 8 am and 6 pm and be in the presence of two witnesses and the registration officer. 
The formation can take place in any local authority, and not only where the notices of intention have been given. They can take place at a Register Office, or any premises approved for civil partnership and marriage. The formation cannot take place in places of religious worship or buildings with a religious association.
