The Cumbria Registration Service is managed by Cumbria County Council and is responsible for the registration of births and deaths within Cumbria. It also deals with the legal preliminaries to getting married or forming a civil partnership. Our friendly and experienced staff also conduct marriage and civil partnership ceremonies in registration offices and approved premises throughout the county.
We offer other services including citizenship ceremonies, renewal of vows and civil naming ceremonies. Some of our staff are also qualified to carry out the Nationality Checking Service and the Settlement Checking Service in partnership with the UK Borders Agency.
If you require a copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate, our staff will be pleased to assist.
These services are provided or overseen by the General Register Office (GRO). The GRO is part of the Office for National Statistics, and Identity & Passport Service. The GRO oversees registration within England and Wales.
