Skip main menu

Progress is continuing apace on Workington’s temporary road bridge.

Ground excavation and stripping of the top soil took place last week and foundation work that involved driving steel abutment piles to house concrete foundations on the south side of the river has been completed four days ahead of schedule.

Piling work on the north side of the bridge started Tuesday afternoon and over the next few days up to 25 workers will be on site working on the embankment leading to the bridge base and beginning the drainage works on the south side.

Parts of the bridge are currently being assembled in preparation for its arrival on site.
