The Countryside Access team and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are working together to help prevent wildfires getting out of control.
The fire engines have a computerised-map system in their cabs, so as they are rushing to a wildfire, they can get up all the information they need about the site, the access points, and local telephone numbers. Local landowners and land-managers are asked to help by filling in a 'fire plan' which is then entered into this cab-based system. The countryside rangers are working with landowners and land managers, where help is needed.
A template fire plan is available to download below, many thanks to Northumberland Fire Group for letting us adapt their version. We have included a microsoft word version, which will be easier to edit on your computer. Guidance notes are also available to go with the fire plan template. If, as a landowner or land manager, you need help with the fire plan, please get in touch with your local ranger (listed in the guidance notes). Also, a useful contact is Duncan Taylor, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Services (see details below).
