Highways works reshaping programme - Suppliers` information hub

The way we deliver highways services in Cumbria is changing

In 2005, Cumbria County Council embarked on a partnership with Capita Symonds and Amey Local Government to deliver highways services in Cumbria. Capita was responsible for the design, planning, and day-to-day management of the highways network; Amey was responsible for delivery of all highways works on the ground; and Cumbria County Council was responsible for the overall management and improvement of the highways network.

The contract with Amey will come to an end on 31 March 2012. At this time we will implement new processes and mechanisms for the delivery of highways works, fleet maintenance, Windermere ferry operations and disused waste site monitoring. This will bring to an end the current delivery arrangement whereby all of these are delivered under a single contract and breaking down the functions into a number of different service arrangements.

Through this section of our website, suppliers and contractors who are interested in any commercial opportunities arising as a result of this reshaping can be kept informed as they arise. The site will feature all of latest contracts news relating to the programme as well as offering more detailed information on specific contract areas. If you have any questions or comments that you would like to raise with us then you can also do so through this section.
