Supporting People is a government programme that funds, monitors, reviews and improves housing related support services to provide additional assistance and support to enable vulnerable people to live independently.
This is done in partnership with Local Housing Authorities, Adult & Local Services, Health, Probation, Registered Social Landlords, Users and Carers and the Voluntary and Private sector.
Most people want to be able to live independently in the place they choose, but this is not always possible because some need additional support.
Housing related support can range from short term hostels, sheltered housing and independent tenancies. It can also include tenancies in shared accommodation and purpose built schemes.
People can receive support at home with someone visiting them or they can move into a supported housing scheme with on site support. The support can last for as long as they need it depending upon individual needs.
