Weights and Measures Calibration Service

By 'calibration' we mean the determination of accuracy of the equipment in question.  Calibration does not include adjustment to bring it within a required tolerance.

Adjustment on equipment not used for trade may be carried out by prior agreement.

At our Kendal headquarters we have an approved weights and measures laboratory.

Between the laboratory and testing in-situ, we can test and certificate the vast majority of weighing and measuring equipment used in shops, factories and warehouses.  So, whether it's a weighbridge or a petrol pump, a brake tester or a beer meter - if you want it testing, we might have the answer.

Range of Weights and Measures we can test

WEIGHTS  in the range 1mg to 20kg can be calibrated to the same level as those in Accuracy class M1 : Council Directive  74/148/EEC  (in the range 100g to 20 kg: typically a 2 kg weight is required to be within ± 100 mg).

MEASURES OF CAPACITY  1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 litres can be calibrated to the same level as an Inspector’s Working Standard *  (eg a 10 l stainless measure is required to be within ± 10 ml).  For any measures below 1 litre please enquire, as smaller measures often lack sensitivity. *

MEASURES OF LENGTH  1, 1.5, 2, 3, 5, 10 and 20 metres can be calibrated to the same level as an Inspector’s Working Standards *  (eg  1 metre measure is required to be within ± 0.5mm).

*  dependent on form

Testing In-Situ

Testing In-Situ of non-automatic weighing equipment –

Equipment in accuracy class III up to 5000 kg can be calibrated **.
