GPs take the lead in health care improvements

Skip main menu

Family doctors are in the driving seat when it comes to delivering improvements to health services in Cumbria. Experienced GPs, one from each of the county’s six districts, are working with other family doctors and health professionals in their areas to provide more treatment and care, closer to where people live. They are responsible for 60 percent of Cumbria’s health budget and are leading members of NHS Cumbria’s Professional Executive Committee – the forum which makes most of the major decisions on health services in the county. Each is able to draw on their years of experience delivering front-line health care to develop the improved services local patients need.
