Cumbria Apprentice Ambassador Network (CAAN)

Why be an apprenticeship ambassador?

Our apprentices are offered the opportunity to join the national Young Apprentice Ambassador Network (YAAN), which is a community of inspiring, driven apprentices and former apprentices who have chosen to register as Young Apprentice Ambassadors in their local area. The YAAN gives today's apprentices the opportunity to connect with and motivate the apprentices of tomorrow. Ambassadors will be invited to promote apprenticeships to young people, their teachers, parents and employers through a variety of exciting events.

Ambassadors have also found themselves presenting at awards ceremonies, speaking at the House of Commons, have been the face of national TV apprenticeship campaigns and have been invited to high profile events.

To develop this initiative in Cumbria we have created the Cumbria Apprentice Ambassador Network (CAAN). In addition to their apprenticeship each apprentice will be given the opportunity to develop their skills for their future chosen career by joining the CAAN and choosing a workstream to support their interests and skills.

The CAAN provides a variety of opportunities for apprentices to work on projects and events.

Our Apprenticeship Officers will support each apprentice in their chosen workstream. The individual tasks are designed to be flexible to allow each apprentice to develop their skills and work with the Managers and Mentors team requirements.

This develops skills such as:

  • Chairing Meetings
  • Minute taking
  • Presentation Skills
  • Project Management
  • Team Building
  • Attending Meetings and Events
  • Communication and Confidence Skills

These exciting opportunities help us to continue to develop our Apprentices and ensure that our Apprenticeship Programmes are designed for Apprentices by Apprentices.
