Public Sector Targets
What is the Public Sector Target?
The Public Sector Target was introduced by the Government in April 2017 and applies to Cumbria County Council (including schools) as an employer with at least 250 employees.
The Target requires the Council to employ an average of 2.3% of its headcount as new apprentice starts each year.
2018 apprenticeship data
On 31 March 2018, we had:
- 11,211 employees of which
- 389 were apprentices
Outcome: 3.47% of our employees are apprentices. We exceeded the target of 2.3% by 1.17%
2017-2018 apprenticeship data
Between 1 April 2017 - 31 March 2018, we employed:
- 1,334 new employees of which
- 219 were new apprentices.
Outcome: 16.42% of our new employees are apprentices.
2017 apprenticeship data
On 31 March 2017, we had:
- 11,301 employees of which
- 174 were apprentices
Outcome: 1.54% of our employees are apprentices.
Percentage of apprenticeship starts between 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 as a proportion of total headcount on 31 March 2017 is 1.94%
