Families enjoyed a family fun day in Barrow on Saturday 11 September to celebrate Cumbria County Council's £1m investment into one of the town's landmark buildings.

The event held in the Barrow Library building in Ramsden Square marked the official opening of Barrow's flagship Customer Connect building following completion of the £1m redesign.

Activities included a fancy-dress competition, face painting, storytelling, a selfie pod, a tombola, archive tours, exhibitions, a photography competition and live music from brilliant local band 'Whiskey Getaways'.

Cumbria County Council's Chairman, Cllr Tony Markley and Chair of Barrow Local Committee, Cllr Kevin Hamilton opened the building with an official ribbon cutting as part of the event.

The event was a huge success and there was a great turn out from the whole community.

The newly redesigned building delivers library services alongside Local Studies, Archives and Adult Learning, and includes a new café area, teen zone, sensory room, bookable meeting space and much more.

Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us!
