Cumbria Holiday Activity Programme - more information

Have fun - make friends - try something new

With a wide range of different activities on offer across every district in the county, the Cumbria Holiday Activity programme has something on offer to suit school pupils of all ages and interests.

With an emphasis on having fun, being healthy and trying something new, the activities on offer will support children and young people to be active, learn new skills, build their confidence - and have a great summer!

Activities include dance, multi-sports, craft, drama, outdoor activities such as kayaking, firefighter experiences, and many other fantastic active and creative experiences.

Children and young people will also have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating and lifestyles and every activity includes a complementary meal.

Funded by the Government as part of the Holiday Activity Fund, every activity is FREE for children and young people receiving benefits-related Free School Meals.  Spaces are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment.

Where possible, some providers will be able to offer places to all children - although there may be a cost.

The activities have been designed to be as inclusive as possible and provision has been made to accommodate children and young people with additional support needs.  Please check the details of each activity and contact the provider if your child has particular requirements.

The Cumbria Holiday Activity Programme is funded by Government and administered by Cumbria County Council to support families of children in Cumbria on benefits-related Free School Meals. Activities are provided free of charge for these children.

Some activity providers also have spaces available for any child, but there may be a cost to parents. This is made clear in the activity information provided.

Use the database to search for available activities. You can refine your search based on your district and  child's age. To book a place, contact the provider directly using the information provided.

Each provider has carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and will have a range of control measures in place. However, the risk from COVID-19 cannot be eliminated. Secondary school age children should continue with twice weekly lateral flow tests at home and everyone should continue to follow the basic hands, face, space guidance.

If your child has COVID-19 symptoms, do not send your child to the holiday activity. Take them for a test and self-isolate until you get the results. The child and any close contacts must self-isolate for 10 days if the test is positive. If the test is negative then self-isolation can end.

All providers have up to date safeguarding policies and staff working with children will have had a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Some activities, by their nature, will involve a degree of risk. Please speak to the provider if you have any concerns.

This will depend on the activity. Please check with the provider.

Arrangements will vary between providers. If you child can no longer attend an activity please let the provider know so they can make the place available for other children.
