`Celebrating Us` Cumbria Children in Care Council Annual Awards

Celebrating the achievements of children and young people who are looked after in Cumbria and the people who support them.

To get nominating...

Nominating someone is easy. From Monday 3 June 2019 you can nominate someone special, just select the category you want to nominate them in, then tell us in no more than 300 words why they deserve an award. It's that simple - nominate online now.

How it all works?

All children and young people who are looked after, foster carers and people that work with them are being invited to nominate in the 'Celebrating Us' Children in Care Council Awards.

A judging panel made up of children and young people who are looked after will have the difficult (and enjoyable) job of sifting through the nominations and choosing the winners.

The Awards

Inspirational Child or Young Person of the Year (under/over 18)

Do you know a child or young person who has really stood out and inspired you? Maybe they've achieved something extraordinary, given children looked after a real voice, done great work for charity or something else that makes them special. This is about recognising that person who sets an example and is truly inspirational! This award will be split into two, with an award for those aged over 18 and an award for those under 18.

Educational Achievement of the Year (Primary and Secondary)

Do you know a child or young person who's really shone this year? Maybe they've made great progress in their studies or achieved outstanding exam results, improved their attendance, overcome a challenge or got into higher education or an apprenticeship. This award will be split into two, with an award for those in primary school and an award for those in secondary school.

Foster Carer of the Year

Foster carers do an amazing job working as part of the team of professionals who ensure fostered children receive the highest standards of care. Foster carers offer the children in their care a safe and caring home and family for as long as they need it. We're looking for nominations for someone who you think has gone above and beyond.

Inspirational Worker of the Year as nominated by children and young people

This could be a social worker, family worker or any adult that works with children and young people who are looked after. The judges are looking for someone who is passionate about helping, listens, keeps you informed, involves you in decisions and goes the extra mile to make your life better. The judges for this category will be prioritising nominations from children, young people and care leavers.

Community/Volunteering Award

We're looking for a child or young person who has done something special outside of school that has made a difference to other people and deserves recognition. Think arts, music, sport, culture, working in the community, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince's Trust...

Nominate now - Don't miss the deadline on Sunday 7 July 2019.

Save the date!

The Awards will take place on Saturday 5 October, we're keeping further details under wraps at the moment and will be sending out invites in September. Needless to say our brilliant Children in Care Council will make this a day to remember!

Follow the Fostering and Adoption with Cumbria County Council Facebook page for regular updates as we build up to the Awards. Last year we received over 170 nominations and really hope to top this in 2019.
