Jigsaw Hospice

Join in and help us build Cumbria`s Biggest Jigsaw

On Thursday 14 February the Chairman of Cumbria County Council, Cllr Elizabeth Mallinson launched her fundraising appeal to help raise money for Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice. Jigsaw provide essential support to children and young adults with life limiting conditions throughout the county.

To help raise funds the County Council is going to try to build Cumbria's Biggest Jigsaw. They are inviting schools, libraries, care homes and community groups - in fact anyone who wants - to take part and design their very own giant jigsaw piece. The theme for the designs is 'Love Cumbria' where registrants are encouraged to draw, paint or design a piece showcasing what they love the most about Cumbria, whether that be the lakes, fells, gingerbread or Beatrix Potter. And what more apt time to launch the 'Love Cumbria' theme than on Valentine's Day!

Commenting on the initiative, Cllr Elizabeth Mallinson, Chairman of Cumbria County Council said:

Jigsaw do a truly amazing job and as such I wanted to do something really creative to help raise funds for them. A giant jigsaw was the obvious choice. People just need to register and in return for a donation we will supply them with a 'design your own jigsaw piece' pack. I'm asking everyone to get involved from scout groups to brownies to school and, from care homes to libraries.

Anyone interested in getting creative can get involved by registering here.

The final giant jigsaw will be assembled on Wednesday 27 March.

Special thanks to James Cropper PLC for kindly donating our 'jigsaw pieces'!
