  • Furness Litfest - Dalton in Furness
    The Literature Festival for south Cumbria. Ticketed author talks, creative workshops, community events, a major storytelling project, a full schools' programme.

    Supper Room Unreserved (rows facing windows) Furness Litfest Starts 19:30 Ends approx 22:00 Tickets £7 each no concessions. Three local storytellers will entertain with traditional and other stories. Some accompanied with music.

  • Workington Remembrance Parades
    The Town Council helps to organise the marking of Remembrance Sunday in Harrington and Workington. This is done by working in collaboration with local organisations such as the British Legion and the Poppy Appeal. The parades and services take place in both Harrington and Workington. Schedules for 2019 are: HARRINGTON SCHEDULE: Leave Harrington Royal British Legion Club at 9.40am and parade to St Mary's Parish Church. 11.15am: Parade arrives back at Harrington Royal British Legion Club. WORKINGTON SCHEDULE 2pm: Parade leaves Pow Street and arrives at the Cenotaph in Vulcan Park for a short service. Parade then continues to St Michael's Church for a service at 3pm.   • Woman in Mind - The Coro, Ulverston
    Tueday £9. Wed-Fri £10. Show time 7:30pm. End time 10pm. Join Ulverston Outsiders as they perform Alan Ayckbourn's play Woman In Mind By turns sad and funny, satirical and moving, the play charts a middle aged woman's (Susan) descent into psychosis. The central character in Woman in Mind is Susan. She is a housewife who, in reality, is neglected by her husband, patronised by her sister-in-law, and estranged from her son. In her own imaginary world, by contrast, she is happy, successful, and loved by her perfect family. She is on stage throughout the play, and everything seen and heard on stage is what is seen and heard by Susan, both real and imagined.

  • Carers Rights Day, Health and Wellbeing information event - Ulverston
    Furness Carers are holding a Health and Wellbeing information event as part of Carers Rights Day, with over 20 organisations giving information and advice for the whole community, being held at the Red Rose Social Club in Ulverston.

  • FREE Umbrella Decorating Workshops
    Bling your Brolly and join our parade! A FREE workshop for all ages. Come along and decorate an umbrella with lights, glitter, tinsel and more! All for free, we even provide the umbrella. You can then parade your brolly through the town for all to see during our umbrella parade at the Christmas Festival on 30th November. The free workshop will be held on Saturday 23rd November from 1pm-4pm at the old 6th form centre at Moorclose Community Centre (near where the old Leisure Centre used to be). The Umbrella Parade will take place on Saturday 30th November as part of our Christmas Festival, meeting at the new Workington Leisure Centre from 4.15pm.

    Join us to celebrate the switching on of Workington's Christmas lights with our amazing festive festival. Jam packed with entertainment throughout the day including live music, walkabout entertainers, face painting, fun fair, and storytelling. Our local market stretches out onto the main street with a fabulous mix of independent local businesses selling tempting treats and beautiful hand-made gifts.
