Access for All

The Countryside Access team has been working with partners across Cumbria to identify routes in wider Cumbria (outside of the two National Parks) which are suitable for people with limited mobility. Wheelchair users, families with pushchairs and the visually impaired will be able to visit and enjoy these sites whilst interacting with the natural environment.

Eight routes have so far been identified as 'Access for All.' These will ensure users can experience a wide variety of Cumbria's environments, including the coast, woodland habitats, rivers and canals, former mining areas and disused railways.

The routes are listed in the left hand menu and users can view general descriptions (including gradients, surface conditions and facilities). Each page also provides an option to download a detailed route description leaflet. All this information allows users to make an informed choice as to whether they think it is within their physical capabilities.

Additional pages in the left hand menu also provide links to what else is available in other parts of Cumbria and further general information.
