Whinfell Beacon

Distance 19 kilometres (12 miles)

Located between two national parks, and despite having a major traffic corridor running across each end of the valley, the Westmorland Borrowdale remains relatively seldom visited.   Both side of the valley offer ridge walking of distinctly different character, with this particular walk the more complex southern ridge visiting six fell tops before descending to return via the picturesque valley bottom.   This route can be combined with its counterpart walk (Whinash Fell) to make a challenging 'Borrowdale Round' high-level walk.
