Welfare - contact community support

People can find themselves in need of support to the extent where they are at a critical point of being without basic supplies. If you feel that you are in need of some help and need assistance, please call Cumbria County Council's community support team on 01228 221100 (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday 9am to 4.30pm) or email communitysupport@cumbria.gov.uk - you will receive a response within one working day.

This service is available to people who reside in Cumbria, are aged 16 or over, in receipt of income-related benefits and are facing severe hardship or crisis. If you are returning to the community after a lengthy absence, are required to leave your home quickly due to an emergency, or are struggling to cope with your current situation whatever that may be, then community support could help. Our support team will talk to you about your individual circumstances and will suggest the most appropriate course of action to help you to resolve your crisis. For most people this will involve signposting them to support services that are already providing help and emergency supplies to Cumbrian communities.
