Joint Protocol for Homeless Young People in Cumbria

Our Joint Protocol is underpinned by a series of 6 Local Commitments; these are locally developed and district specific documents which interpret how the Joint Protocol will work in each district, mixing elements of consistent practice with local flexibility/details around local partnerships and accommodation options.

Please select the relevant document to see the Local Commitment for your area below.

This contains details of the initial response (First Contact script or conversation) that you will need to have with a young person if they present as homeless to you (and that can be used as a referral document for supported accommodation, support from the Early Help Officer in Youth Homelessness and/or a Nightstop placement); the relevant partnership contact details for your area; details of the local housing pathway; and will talk you through the process to follow.

For professionals completing First Contact Scripts with young people, we have phased out the handwritten versions and ask that you please used the Word version which can be typed on.  This is to avoid any mistakes or difficulty in reading handwriting.
