Household Waste Recycling Centre Permit Scheme
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) are provided for householders to deposit and recycle household rubbish. Trade waste is not accepted at these centres. To ensure the exclusion of trade waste, certain vehicles are only permitted to use these sites subject to a permit scheme.
If you drive:
- a van
- a pickup
- a flatbed or tow a twin axle trailer (up to 3 metres long)
- or you are a pedestrian accessing the sites
you will need to get a free permit before you visit the recycling centre.
Telephone 0300 003 1118 (the HWRC permit helpline will be closed on bank holidays and weekends)
Notice
From Monday 19 August 2019 Barrow Household Waste Recycling Centre will be closed for 1 hour every day between 11am and 12noon. This is a trial period initially for 5 weeks.
This will allow the main container exchanges to take place during the fixed 1 hour period and is expected to reduce the total number of unplanned closures for container exchanges throughout the day.
Please plan your site visits for outside this time slot. During busy periods, additional container exchanges may still take place outside the fixed 1 hour closure period.
